This course is designed to help participants build a strong foundation for a successful career in payroll management. It provides an in-depth understanding of the labor law fundamentals essential to accurate payroll preparation and computation. Participants will gain practical skills in creating manual timekeeping formats, enabling them to effectively handle both manual and automated payroll systems. The course also focuses on developing the ability to generate accurate payroll reports with minimal to zero adjustments in subsequent payroll cycles, ensuring efficiency and compliance in payroll operations.

Module One: Labor Law Fundamentals on Philippine Payroll

  • Overview of key provisions under Title I, Book III of the Philippine Labor Code, focusing on employee compensation, working hours, and wage regulations.

  • In-depth discussion of Republic Act No. 6727 (Wage Rationalization Act), including the concept of wage distortion and how it affects payroll computations.

 Module Two: Statutory Contributions and Withholding Tax

  • Explanation of the TRAIN Law tax table and its proper application in payroll computations.

  • Detailed review of mandatory contributions to PhilHealth (PHIC), Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG Fund (HDMF)—including current schedules and how they are computed and deducted from employee salaries.

 Module Three: Manual Timekeeping Format

  • Presentation and discussion of a sample manual timekeeping report used as the primary basis for payroll preparation.

  • Emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and compliance in timekeeping practices.

 Module Four: Practical Test and Discussion

  • Participants will perform actual payroll computations based on real-world scenarios or case studies provided by the facilitator.

  • Group discussion and feedback to reinforce correct application of laws and principles covered in previous modules.
